Inspired by @one cut's Hardcore Restraint and the 2016 Restraint thread, I'll be doing my own milder version: a Restraint/3017 Two-Fer in 2016.
I know that I'm not tough enough to completely abstain from purchases, as required by the 2016 Sabbatical. However, I have plenty of soaps/creams/croaps and blades (with more inbound when my Two-Pass Passaround Box comes home to roost), and a desire for more. To curb this, I won't be buying anything new for the year. I will plow through the software one item at a time and use blades as I see fit, depending on which razor I'm favoring. Crystal and Derby Extra will be most-used because they have the biggest inventory, but I also have other blades that I've been wanting to try and this will be a good way to get to know them.
Since this isn't a full-blown Restraint, I'm leaving myself open to finding awesome vintage mugs (Seaforth and BurmaShave), brushes (Century and Ever-Ready) and razors (DE) in the wild. And if I happen across a vintage bowl of Yardley or similar in an antique shop, I'll snatch it and PIF two soaps to make room and stay in the spirit.
I'm perfectly happy to go it alone, but if you care to join me, add your name and your two restrictions (and, if you wish, one specific exception with penalty) to the list:
1. (and only?) FoolishMortal - soaps/creams/croaps and blades (exception - vintage soap vs. PIF of two soaps)
I'll check back in with reviews of software and blades as I go through them.
Cheers!
A version of the Standard Rules applies:
- Start and end time are based on your local time zone.
- No purchases of your two categories are allowed during the restraint period. NONE. Not even if you get a gift card to WCS, ebay, Amazon, etc. If you need something you may trade for it, but let's face it - you already have enough stuff.
- Trades will be limited to one trade a month with non-Restraint/Sabbatical participants (not counting B&B passaround boxes), unlimited with those still in a Restraint/Sabbatical.
- If you have to ask for clarification, you probably should not be doing it.
- Bidding on eBay is just silly when you already have so much. Just don't do it.
