Given the superiority of brass as a material for DEs (see: perfectly functional 100-year old Gillettes), why are there virtually no current production brass razors? I'm no metallurgist, but I assume the answer must lie in the cost of production for brass? On the other hand, Fatip puts out a brass DE at a very reasonable price point, albeit with some well documented finish issues. I get that the low end pricing on Cadets, Maggards, Parkers, etc. pretty much dictates zinc alloy, but at the price points for Muhle, Jagger and Merkur, or perhpas just a bit more, why can't someone produce a quality brass DE? It seems like it would be a winner in the current all-or-nothing market choice environment of either cheap Zamak or high ticket stainless.
