Shaving in the field

I'm in the Army, and my unit usually goes to the field every month or two. Part of the reason I recently started DE shaving was because of my daily requirement to shave, and cartridge wasn't cutting it. Typically, an electric shaver or a cold water splash is what we get in the field, and for a guy with a tough beard, that is irritating in more than one way. I am enjoying my DE, but I'm wondering if yall have suggestions for wetshaving in the field. I see a few obstacles to a good shave:

1. Hot water. Obviously not always an option. Warm water via vehicle heat is possible. I believe a small electric heater or camp stove would probably be the best answer for access to hot water in a field environment. I plan on reading the cold water tutorials for those days I have to go without.
2. Equipment. Space and weight matters. On patrol, I would probably opt for a cartridge or disposal, for simplicity and weight. But when we are with our gear and vehicles, I believe a smaller razor, like my Merkur 34c, should be fine. The brush and accessories are not. ANY recommendations on a good travel brush and soap? My can of Blades Grim doesn't jive with the hygiene kit, and the brush gets smashed. I believe skipping a bowl and face lathering is also the best option, since I use the canteen cup for my water.
3. Soap and lather. Besides the space issue, training in the desert and wind isn't conducive to lather staying wet, and dries quickly. One idea I had was to only lather one part of my face at a time and add water to the brush as needed. Is there a good, portable soap or cream that will stay hydrated, or is that just going to take work?
4. Sand. It gets everywhere, in everything. I obviously try to wash my face off with water and keep equipment clean. Any advice for cleaning the razor especially? I try to wipe off any soap scum and hair after each shave, even at home.
5. Post-shave. I don't have any post shave routine besides warm and cold rinses. I have considered a balm or lotion, since my rough beard doesn't always have the smoothest cut, and my skills are still developing. In the field, protecting my face from the elements is also important, but I have no idea where to start here. I especially dislike strong/astringent/feminine scents of aftershaves. Musky or nothing, since I prefer my shave soap smell anyway.

So there you go. I know it's a lot of information, but I don't want to destroy my face every morning while training anymore. Any help yall can provide would be appreciated, and I will share with my soldiers as well. Thanks yall.
