Slick, dense, lather inprovement

After trying many soaps and creams, I have been using Haslinger Schafmilch soap and Biotique Bio Palmyra cream pretty exclusively for a month or so. They may well be my favorite performing products. They may not have the best scent but they give really excellent performance.

I am running out of both products but I have other products that I have purchased sitting in the cabinet, that I would like to use up. I have shaved with a number of these products recently and they don't perform as well as these products, as expected.

I am a bit of a tinkerer. After researching a bit I found some additives which may improve their performance. Castor oil and bentonite clay are supposed to improve lather density and slickness. I had both on hand.

I added 5 drops of castor oil and a pinch of bentonite clay to a number of lathers: Arko, Kiss My Face, Porasso, etc. Really quite surprising the improvement in density and slickness these additions made. Performance is really pretty damn close to what I would consider my "standards". Castor oil and bentonite clay are really quite inexpensive. You might want to give it a try with soaps or creams you would consider second shelf performers.
