Using an Alum block as an anti-perspirant

I remember someone one here mentioning this a while back and thinking it was a little eccentric. Then I came across the fact that in Egypt alum is often used as an anti-perspirant. Now that I've tried it, I'd say it's the best anti-perspirant I've ever used and has the three qualities I've never been able to find in one anti-perspirant: It lasts all day and all night, has no scent, and leaves no underarm stains on my shirts.



Anyone else here have experience with this? I am now a total convert.
