Just some Saturday morning musings.
When I went back to DE shaving and started the full three pass shaves, I admit that I started off with a razor that was too aggressive for my poor technique, the EJ DE89 (yep, I was that bad). So in my quest for a milder razor to compensate for my "sensitive" skin I eventually ended up with the Above The Tie M1.
This was a bit of a revelation, as I now wasn't getting the BBS shave I was used to. I really had to slow down and take notice of exactly what I was doing, at which point I noticed that my razor angle was sloppy and inconsistent. With a more aggressive razor if your angle isn't quite right you might end up with a weeper or a sensitive area where you went too close, but if the angle isn't just right with an extremely mild razor, then you are going to be left with a generally poor shave and rough patches.
I've now spent quite a bit of time with the ATT M1 refining my technique to the point I'm consistently back to BBS shaves, and the best bit is that when I've gone back to more aggressive razors the results are far more pleasing, quicker, and with less irritation.
For me this has been as big a revalation as the discovery of the beard mapping concept. YMMV :biggrin1:

Mild razors build good technique.
