Picked up a GEM 1912 Razor on eBay last week with a GEM Featherweight for about $11 shipped. So I tried the 1912 today on my two day old beard and here is what I thought. My first impression of this razor is that it looks kind of like a toy, the handle is so small it looks like a travel razor. I put in a new Carbon blade, used some shave oil, and C.O. Bigelow shave creme. As the razor came down my cheek I was surprised it was SO noisy you could hear every little whisker it shaved, and it felt so light in my hands and on my face I almost did not feel it there, but I sure could hear it. I got a three pass shave, and boy it was one of the best shaves I have ever had. BBS. after the three passes I splashed Clubman on my now very smooth face and felt an oh so light sting BUT for the rest of the day I could feel the wind on my face like I never could before. Then 7 hours later after work my face was still smooth. Now I believe it when people say shaving with an SE is like shaving with a straight. This GEM 1912 is a FINE razor. I recommend this razor to anyone who wants to try an SE blade. They can be found dirt cheap, and gives IMPRESSIVE shaves.
I can't compare this razor to much but this razor seems to be a bit more aggressive then my GEM Cloug Pruf, I guess my next review will be the GEM Feather weight.
