I find that if I do a pencil test on my Naniwa SS, they need a lot of lapping - very often. In fact, if I do 40 laps or so with a razor and then use the DMT 325 that it will take quite some time to remove all the pencil marks. I noticed this on all the stones (3k/8K/12k), but it's especially prevalent on the softer 12k. It takes me on the order of minutes to get the stone to where all the marks are gone (I haven't measured with a stopwatch, but it feels like a long time and my arm does get tired if I hone through the whole progression and lap all the stones).
Is this an indicator of poor technique or am I just being way too picky about something that isn't a huge deal? I'm working with a somewhat warped GD (thanks blade stamp!), could that be the reason? Maybe they were never truly flat in the first place (I've done this procedure at least 5 times+random lapping in between strokes)?
Thanks and apologies if this is vague or poorly worded
