Reason I ask is that I've always used boar brushes with my current favorite being a Semogue 620. I consider it well broken in as I've had it in regular use since late last year. We all know that boar brushes tend to get softer tips as they get broken in, yet retain a nice stiffness for lathering up hard soaps and even for a brisk face lather.
I recently obtained my 1st badger brush (Vulfix 2006 pure badger) and am somewhat disappointed so far. I've used it with soaps (Williams & Mike's), creams (Speick, Proraso) and even a few super lathers mixing cream & soap). Anyway, it just feels way too soft and kind of floppy. I realize that my brush isn't top of the line or even close to it, but it takes longer than the boar to obtain a nice lather and when applying to my face, seems like it's not holding much lather at all compared to the boar. (maybe the badger these hairs came from was in need of Viagra)
So, as the thread title asks.....do they stiffen up a tad or is this a case of that's just the way they are?
