Hello everyone!
(Questions are towards the bottom) My name is Brad Larson and I have been DE shaving for almost two years now. And I must say, I am in love. About two years ago I was using those super expensive Mach 3 razors and I was miserable because they were tugging my facial hair to the point where it felt like it was ripping my hair out. I have sparse but corse hair which I only have to shave every other day. And I have to be clean shaven for work so I needed a solution. Well a google search of my shaving problems brought me to this forum. I read a lot and learned a ton. I bought a $15 badger hair brush, a $5 DE razor, some proraso shaving soap, and a blade sample pack all on amazon and I was quickly converted. I will never go back. After trying many blades I fell in love with Bluebirds and bought a fifty pack. They gave me a very nice rash free, smooth, close shave and the best part was no more tugging. But within the last 6-7 months the bluebird blades have just not given me a good shave anymore. Not close enough, and worst of all, the tugging returned. So I went back to what I had left of my sample pack and tried a feather blade(I tried one two years ago and I got bad razor burn). Wow, I fell in love with the feather blade! It was so smooth and left me with a very close and soft shave.
Here are my questions;
1) what changed? Can facial hair become more corse?
2) I just bought a red tip super speed, on eBay (haven't received it yet) which I've read is very "aggressive". Should I try the red tip with the bluebirds before I try the super sharp feather's? Or will the feather/red tip combo be okay.
3) is there a way to make my lather hot? Or warm? I moisten my brush with hot water before mixing my lather. But the temp always stays luke warm. Any tips would be great!
I am by no means a pro. But I can't remember the last time I cut myself and I think I have gotten pretty good at DE shaving. So I don't think it is user error. But I'm not sure. Thanks in advance for the help.
