Pilot Cavalier EF leaked in pocket. FP woes.

So I was wondering if this is was a good EDC pen and picked one up for $45. I pocketed it, in my pants, for about 4 days and upon arriving at work I noticed the whole nib was covered in ink. I cleaned it off, used it and recapped it, only to run into the same issue when I went to use it again. Looked into the cap and noticed there was quite a bit of ink in there and washed it out.

Soooo I guess that makes the Cavalier a not-so-great pocketing pen, I just carry it in my work bag now and it works perfectly fine now without issue.

Anyone else run into leaky issues with their Cavalier? Maybe placing a ever so slight amount of silicone grease at the base of the nib will fix the issue...?

Current line up:

- Kaweco Liliput F,

- Few Pilot Varsities M

- Few Platinum Preppies F

- The Cavalier EF

Just looking around for EF FPs similar to the slim profile of the Cavalier but good for pocketing in the $25-$55 range.

Currently looking at:

- Lamy Logo: reviews show similar outcomes as my Cavalier...

- Lamy CP1: Seems what i'm looking for, but I already have 2 $50 FPs and they haven't quite suited me... Third time's the charm?

I have tried a Platinum Plasir and Lamy Safari... Did not really like the handling of them, too thick. Which makes me skeptical to pick up a Pilot Metropolitan when they drop in EF nibs. However I do love the pocket-ability of the Platinum Preppy and the handling isn't too bad, although I am not really a fan of the graphics on the body and the nib size.

I did try a Ohto Tasche & Poche, which the former had issues with leaking similar to the Cavalier and the nib was extremely stiff. I also did not really like they had to be posted to use, reminded me of my Liliput. Plus, it wrote too bold for me anyway, all it had for me was the styling.

I wonder if the Lamy EF nib fits the Platinum Preppy haha.
