I've been DE shaving since xmas and really enjoying it, but the neck area below my right jawline has been the last area of skin to not see many visual improvements. The ingrown hair bumps and irritation from collared shirts disappeared after the first few weeks, but numerous red & dark areas remained long after the pain went away. A week ago I decided to just attack that area with each shave, and the results are perfect. The left side of my neck has never had irritation.
My face shave routine is a pretty standard 2 pass w/cleanup, but neck issues always created a little chaos mid shave. Concentrating on doing a 3 pass on that area & stretching skin, not against the grain but wtg then across the grain in both directions resulted in a pain free bbs & somehow removed all the remaining spots and red areas. Normal looking neck skin now. After 25 years of slight embarassment, 3-5 good shaves cleared the skin right up. Been using an Ikon slant and shave creams. Within a few weeks I'll be able to go against the grain everywhere on my face except the upper lip.
I've got a 2 day stubble today and rubbing that area against the grain isnt painful. I'm amazed. Funny how we sometimes get accustomed to irritating circumstances and just deal rather than educate ourselves then explore & conquer.
