About that left hand.

Ok, first straight razor shave today.



Good news.... No blood, with the appearance of a good shave on almost all the face

Bad news.... A few minor patches that really needed a second pass

Worse news.... Terrifying - good job I am an adrenaline junky

Worst news.... My left hand is not up to the job.



Actually, more like the brain cells that control the left hand are not up to the job. I was expecting it to feel hesitant & wobbly. What I wasn't expecting was that my brain can't understand my left hand in the mirror. With my right hand I can see where the blade needs to land & it sort of just moves there. With my left hand I might see that the end of the blade needs to move closer to my face but instead it moves further out.... OR it needs to get flatter to skin but it rotates to get perpendicular instead. Takes real willpower to make it do the right thing.



i assume that my brain is used to watching my right hand shave with a cartridge razor in a mirror & therefore has learned what is needed, but apparently has never seen my left hand before.



Is this normal?

How long before my brain catches up with what it needs to do?
