:straight:Hello all,
I am new to wet shaving and have been DE shaving for about 4 weeks now. I originally got into DE shaving because of the savings I could make. I hated shaving, I always got razor burn and ingrown hairs. I will admit I thought I would do some research before starting out, came here and read all the tuition sections and a lot of the forum. I didn't believe that simply changing to a DE would make shaving fun, cancel all razor burn and ingrown hairs.
How wrong was I?! I now spend way to much time on here, my bank balance isn't any better than before, I don't suffer any razor burn and my ingrown hairs have nearly all gone other than the odd one. I am so shocked by the results that I am already bugging my dad and mates at work to start as well.
I am now shaving with no nicks or weepers (apart from occasionally). I am certainly not BBS but definitely better than a cartridge razor. I am now going to concentrate on trying to get a BBS shave and then move onto SE. My profile pic for now is of a straight razor on here that I think is beautiful.
I started of with some very basic kit but that will change soon. I did however buy a Merkur Futur razor as my first before I read anything on here. I did notice that it wasn't the best starting razor but it seems to have really worked for me.
I also have a terrible Men-u starter brush. This will be my first item to replace.
Men-u shaving cream tube that came with the brush which I quite like but I'm yet to try anything better.
Real Shaving Co. Shaving cream which is easy to lather but I'm not fond of the smell.
Many thanks for all the tips that you didn't realise you were giving as I was lurking for too long.
