Hey Badger&Blade,
I've been stalking the forums for the last two days, and have read many of the posts on the forum, they've been really helpful and informative.
Just a little bit of a background.
I was first introduced to DE shaving 2 years ago, when I was frustrated with constantly having to spend money on Gillette shaving cartridge refills. My girlfriend decided to get me an Edwin Jagger shaving kit for my birthday and I've been using that since.
It never occurred to me that I have been using the brush incorrectly, as I've always been soaping up my brush by swirling it in the porcelain bowl with the soap in it. I never knew that I needed to load the brush before working a lather somewhere else, either in a bowl or on my face.
Anyway, the only reason why I've started researching more, is because I've almost finished using that bar of soap that came with the shaving kit, and have been on the look out for a new bar of shaving soap.
I've since decided that I would like to replace my Edwin Jagger badger brush of two years. Countless of hairs have dropped from the brush and it seems to have 1/3 less hairs than when I first got it.
Here's my problem, I'm unsure of what to get. The Edwin Jagger brush I currently have now, is a super badger, so I'm thinking of getting something equivalent, or better.
I'm not sure of the actual shaving terms, but I'm looking for a brush that has it's own sturdiness, but feels soft on my face.
Regarding the budget, I'm okay with spending $100-150 as I probably won't be getting another brush for a long time.
I've read many threads on B&B, and understand that Thater has really good brushes, but I just wanted to get your second opinion before I part with my money.
Another problem I have, is that I'm from Singapore, and we don't have any shaving shops here. I'll most likely have to ship to a freight forwarder in the US, before getting the brush to me in Singapore. So it'll be great if you could factor that in as well.
I've only heard of amazon and westcoastshaving, and even then, I'm not sure if their products are priced competitively.
I was thinking of getting this from Amazon, it's a Parker Silvertip, but I'm not sure if it would be more worth my while to spend a little more for much better quality like a Thater.
Looking forward to your replies and advice. Thanks a lot!
