I've owned the "Above The Tie" R1 and M1 plates for a while now, and my thoughts on them are:
The R1 plate gave me a great shave, very close but perhaps not smooth enough to be my daily razor.
The M1 is great, but I wanted the closeness of the R1 with the smoothness of the M1.
Then came along the ATT OC M2, and for me it filled the gap perfectly.
I always do 3 passes, then a quick touch up on the chin. I would use the R1 for a couple of days then go with a milder razor for a day or so, because the R1 for me, was on the limit for my face.
The R2 gives me that closeness, but IMO is smoother.
I own both the Atlas and the Kronos handles. The Kronos is too long for me. I love the look and length of the Atlas, but I prefer to use the razor with my RazoRock Bulldog handle (sorry Stan! but I still use the Atlas handle on my New Improved).
Could this be my desert island razor? I think it might be!:thumbup1:
