I'm not sure if the higher cost of labor is calculated into the inflation calculators, it's telling you what a dollar is worth in the past. It can't calculate the higher labor, overhead, worker's insurance, rent, cost of brass, tools, etc as far as I figure.
Anyway, Gillette wasn't making much of a profit on the razors, they were merely vehicles to sell their profitable blades. And yes, it would cost a heck of a lot more than $9.00!
What would a Gillette Red Tip razor really cost if made currently?
