First DE Shave in 26 years

Hello all,
I have purchased my first DE shaving kit after switching to an electric shaver 26 years ago. My new kit includes the following:
Merkur HD 34C, finest/best badger brush (I purchased a 24mm X 60mm knot and made a handle from African Gemsbok horn), Lather and Wood sandalwood soap and a generic ceramic mug ( to be replaced at some point).

I have watched several videos from Mantic59 on YouTube and hopefully my next shave will not include razor burn and bumps on my neck. Youthful memories of a baby smooth shave served to override the mature man helplessly watching in the mirror.

Any encouragements or suggestions from those with more experience are welcomed.
