I've been using an Edwin Jagger DE89 more or less since I started DE shaving several years ago. I love the shave I get with it, which is why I keep going back, but I am about to write off my third one over that time. The head just doesn't screw on the way it used to. I can't figure out what is going on. After a couple of years, each razor develops some issue where the head just won't screw in all the way, which leads to a very unsatisfactory shave.
I change the blade once a week, and give it a complete, meticulous cleaning when I do. I have tried inserting a screws into the handles and turning nuts onto the the head in hopes of cleaning the threads, but that hasn't gotten me anywhere. Does anyone else have this problem? Anyone have a fix? Barring that, does anyone know of a razor that shaves similarly that won't give me the same problems?
