So I want to try a big brush and am going to attempt to make a handle to drop a 30mm Whipped Dog Silvertip into. I want it to have some backbone and less flop so I know that I should set the knot into the brush deeper. For a 30mm how big should I drill the hole? 32mm? Also how deep do you think I will need to drill it to give the brush a bit more backbone? 20mm? I have not made a handle yet, but am skilled at making pens and such so I have the woodworking knowledge to do so, just not the best grasp on loft and such when it comes to making a brush.
If you have other recommendations than silvertip let me know. I currently have a 24mm Whipped Dog High mountain and it is pretty floppy, my favorite brush is a 23/48 TGN Finest two band in a rudy vey keyhole. Perfect amount of backbone and softness, I would like to get (if possible) a bigger brush with a bit more tip softness and still the same backbone as that one. Thats why I was thinking Silvertip but set deeper???
Pic of the RV for reference as to how it is set.
Thanks!
