Hi Guys,
I have a vintage CVH straight I bought off ebay, buyer said the scales were horn, but the hot pin test smelled exactly like burning tires. At first I thought the scales were plastic, but with the smell I decided they were hard rubber. I used a H2O Isopropyl alcohol wash to sanitize the scales and blade. Now I have an isolated issue, theres a slow but persistent liquid discharge from the pivot hole that covers the tang. This liquid is still around a few days after the wash and after leaving the razor open to dry. I see the liquid each time I open the razor, I can wipe it away but its thick and a bit sticky like pine tar. Im unsure if the rubber is breaking down because this is isolated to the pivot area and not effecting the rest of the scale. Any thoughts?
Thanks
