I have no idea why I needed to buy this when I was 100% happy with my Ceramic. I guess it all started when I started reading the Aaron Franklin Smoking Manifesto that our own Aaron ran.
Anyway, after a long search locally on used sites, a WTB posted and asking around, one finally popped up about a 60 minute drive from our house. I packed up the kids, hit up a local burger place (deliceous by the way) and we made our way to the farm house. He said it was his Dad's, he had no use for it and it had been sitting for years. There are no markings on it, but the dimensions are lead to a Horizon 16" Classic Smoker. When I asked about the brand, he said he wasn't sure and thought it was a Horizon as well.
We took off the chimney stack (which is bolted on) and managed to get it in the back of the Sienna and headed home. After it sitting there for over 24hrs, I finally tracked down my neighbor and we pulled it out.
Here it is assembled and ready for a good cleaning. I'll get it cleaned up and throw a few logs in the firebox to see where it leaks, where I want to place my Tel-Tru BQ300 (that I have been waiting years for to use) and any other tweaks I may have to implement. I'll add dimensions tomorrow, it's too dark now. But I grab my calipers and it is about 5/32" thickness on all metal.
