Thanks for the help in starting this journey

I just want to say “thanks” since I’ve been lurking here and learned a ton and am on a new journey. It’s very odd to me to be thinking of shaving in these terms and “talking” about it, but if you all weren’t doing it, I wouldn’t know anything and wouldn't be here.

So…how did I get here? Probably same frustrations that led many here. I was raised by my Mom and nobody ever taught me how to shave so I've been shaving for 35 years the way the industry told me I should be shaving. Just spent 9 weeks out of the country on business and ran out of shave gel and had to spend 20 bucks to get a can of more gel crap. This piled on to my constant shock at the cost of Fusion cartridges broke the proverbial camel’s back. That opened me up to all the “Harry’s” ads that have been harassing me and I ordered the starter kit. While I waited for it to arrive and read some reviews from a “what did I just do?” perspective, I read something that led me to get some Duke Cannon shave cream (“Smells like accomplishment!”) and a badger brush. That really opened my eyes and I was getting way better shaves even using my Fusion.

Now I have (anything worth doing is worth overdoing):

· EJ-DE89LBL

· Personna blue lab blades

· Proraso pre-shave cream (Not sure if it does anything, but I’ll let it tingle my face while I whip up a lather)

· Williams mug soap (works for me…smells like soap)

· Styptic pencil (tells me how I did…only one sting today)

· Nivea post shave balm (used it for years)

· Thayers Witch Hazel (never heard of witch hazel…thanks B&B)

· Pinaud Clubman and Bay Rum (I also wear Shuron glasses…I feel like my granddad)

Except for the razor and the pretty stainless rack and soap container (so my wife doesn't ask about all the shave stuff lying around), most everything else is dime store cheap and I love it. I notice a big comfort difference between the first and second shave on the blade, so until I get better I’ll probably splurge and spend an extra 6 cents to use a new blade every shave. I’m only four shaves in…lots to learn. One horrific shave, two ok, but today was great and I’m practicing my new favorite word…faceturbation!

Funny thing is, I haven’t even tried the Harry’s razor that started this trip. I’ll try it next time I travel.

Thanks fellas…you’ve been a big help to this lurker.

Thanks for the help in starting this journey
