I'm not sure if this has been brought up in the past or not, so I figured I'd highlight my buying experience for the Semogue SOC boar I received today, especially since it's such a popular brush.
I was looking for an SOC boar on the cheap. I didn't see any pop up in B/S/T, so I went ahead and scoured eBay. If you choose to take that route you will undoubtedly run into a listing by the seller nanbantrader, who has nearly perfect feedback. He sells the SOC (boar and badger) amongst a variety of other Semogue brushes, shaving soaps, body soaps, and other grooming products.
The price caught my eye at $30.35. Seemed too good to be true. Turns out the seller ships from Portugal, which as many of us know, is where Semogue brushes are made. The part that had me sketched out was the free shipping he offered to CONUS. Despite the wait time, which didn't bother me, the free method offered no tracking. I gambled and took it anyways. I received the package 13 days later in Rochester, NY. Not so bad, considering it crossed an ocean fo' FREE.
Brush was in a thin plastic container (which I'm assuming is factory standard; correct me if I'm wrong) which was wrapped in bubble wrap, which was then packaged into a bubble envelope. The container had a bit of a ding in it, but not deep enough to make contact with the brush within. Brush seemed in perfect condition minus a couple of kinked hairs that were probably not caused from shipping.
It's not a bad way to get your hands on a stellar brush for cheap. I'm on a fixed income at the moment, so I really wanted to get the most for my money. The seller also offers expedited shipping for $5, along with a tracked version of the standard shipping for $1.85 (which, in retrospect, I should've just paid for). I wouldn't be afraid to make a purchase from that seller in Portugal if you're looking to save some green.
