I got my starter kit from HTGAM yesterday and decided to give myself a shave at night to test everything out. The shave went ok with only a couple nicks here and there, but no major cuts which was good. I was expecting at least 1. I will say it was much more fun than regular shaving. There is something about using the brush to apply the soap.
I had about 2-3 days growth when I shaved (I knew the razor was coming so I wanted to wait) and I did get some tug, particularly over my chin. I wouldn't say I have a thick beard by any means. Could it have been because of the angle?
I did my first pass WTG and re-lathered to go XTG. The second pass was really smooth and went better. I did feel some burning so I'm sure I was applying too much pressure. I applied some witch hazel after which didn't bother me, but when I put on my after shave lotion there was some burn. It went away pretty quick though. I would say all in all it was a good first shave but I have more to learn and get better with it.
Any suggestions/tips about getting the right angle or applying the right amount of pressure?
