For months I've been using an alum stick (shaped like underarm deodorant stick) from a popular supplier you'd recognize and it really seems to be lacking ..strength? I get a slight buzz after a shave, no detectable residual film or particles. The stick has bearly smoothed down it factory beveled head. I wet it, apply it.. get a slight tingle, if that, after a close shave. I sometimes look to see if I forgot to remove a protective film, ha, but it helps as a styptic pencil with a slight weeper so its there.
