After shaving 5-6 times with my recently acquired Pearl SSH-01 I decided to share my thoughts with you. Especially since I own the R41 [2013] and a Fatip Piccolo. I was adviced to buy a long-handle model, but just then they were out of it, so I decided to go for the shorter handle SSH-01.
The look of the razor is great, although the plating is not perfect. Far from Muhle. The teeth are not perfectly cast either, but that doesn't affect the quality of the shave. As with many bullet head razors it is impossible to have the blade perfectly aligned on both sides. But again, this doesn't affect the shave. This razor feels very well balanced, at least for my hands.
As for the shave, I would say this one is less aggressive than the R41, but then again, what is more aggressive than R41... Even the Fatip is more aggressive compared to the Pearl. You don't need to concentrate that much with the Pearl as with the R41, but you don't get as long lasting BBS. It is BBS by all means, but around 6 o'clock in the evening I can feel that I shaved with the Pearl, and not the R41 or the Fatip.
This razor is not expensive, it just does a very good job, especially if you have the barbwire type beard. I would recommend it to anyone (except for newbies, don't get misled by the words "less aggressive"!!! ).
