Brush Travel Tubes from McMaster-Carr

I have been "on the beach" (unassigned) for the last couple of days so I have been catching up on things I have been intending to post here.

After buying a travel tube on line (I don't remember the vendor but i know West Coast Shaving has them and at a very reasonable price), I noticed that tubes of that type are in common use in industry as shipping tubes for small parts or small pieces of equipment. I also noticed that they come in various sizes and in square as well as round.

In a hunt from industrial suppliers I started first with Granger with no success, but i found them at McMaster-Carr. although I measured my existing tube, I must of measured wrong and ended up one size too big for some of them.

They are made of a clear plastic instead of opaque, and are firmer. Otherwise they appear to be identical.

The part number for what would be the same size as I had before is 2108T35. It is 1.46" in diameter, and length range from 4 3/4" to 7 7/8". Price is $2.06

The shorter one of the same diameter is 2108T34 and is priced at $1.83.

Every brush I have is accommodated well enough with the T35 case. The next size larger isn't needed for even my 30 mm brushes even in full bloom although they do work OK and that is what I'll use them for.

Shipping from McMaster-Carr is not calculated until they are ready to ship, but their shipping costs are extremely reasonable. I didn't save the invoice and I had a package of O rings included on the order with a total of four tubes and shipping was well under $5.00.

Currently I usually use original softer case when I travel and if I'm traveling with two travel size brushes, the 2nd brush goes in the shorter tube of the same size.

In the photo, the original tube is 2nd from the left, the short one of the same size is on the left, and the larger diameter ones are on the right. I don't know shat I'll do with the short fat one.

Don't forget to drill vent holes if you order these.
