I got my super sharp Gold Dollar from Buca yesterday.
I used the Van Hagen hockey puck in a bowl with boar brush set up, and it went fairly well for my first time.
I nicked my right ear just a tiny bit right at the beginning, and that was it. After that I went slower and more careful-er
I think I did a pretty good job on the sideburns and cheeks, but the neck just under the jawline is the problem area for me. Both sides feel a little bit rough. I really don't have much razor burn either. I splashed on some Thayer's Witch Hazel afterwards.
It's going to take some practice to get good at it. I'll most likely alternate between this and the DE, depending on how much time I have. It's amazing how thin that hollow ground blade is. It's almost paper thin towards the cutting edge.
