I have just converted from the Gillette Mach 5 to a DE Razor. My starter kit includes a Merkur 178 Safety Razor with Merkur blades, Old Bond Street Sandlewood Shaving Cream and a Porter 100% badger brush. I stopped by Art of Shaving near my home and picked up some preshave oil and some aftershave. The aftershave seems pretty good, but the preshave oil doesn't seem to make much of a difference. Are there any preshave creams that you could recommend for me to try? I also am still getting some razor bumps when I shave with my DE razor. Are there any suggestions as to how to stop the razor bumps? It may be me adjusting to the DE Razor.
Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.
