How to use samples?

I have a question about how to use soap samples. I recently received a sample in a PIF, the container is maybe the size of a half dollar. How do I lather this up? It's not soft enough to remove some like a cream, but I can't imagine lathering that tiny puck and it working. Thoughts?

Futur clone Ming Shi 2000S

I appreciate the fact that they prominently state what the razor is made of. I have several zinc alloy razors that I like a lot, so I have nothing against the material. But I do like to know what I'm getting.

Any Chinese speakers here? I'm curious to know what Ming Shi means, because I've seen Weishi razors advertised as wei-shi ming. I wonder if there is the word "razor" in there somewhere.

Poll: Do Blades Perform Differently In Different Razors?

I'm intrigued when I see posts saying that a particular blade works better or worse in a particular razor. I've spent the last few months looking out for this but I don't get it: for me, a good blade works well whichever razor I use it in, and the converse is true. Any difference in performance is down to the razor, not the blade.

What do you think?

Vote Yes if you think that a blade's performance varies depending on the razor it's used with.
Vote No if you think that a blade's performance stays the same irrespective of the razor.

Hard water affect TOBS Lemon Lime soap?

I recently purchased a tub of Taylor of Old Bond Street Lemon Lime shave soap and I can't get the stuff to lather worth spit. We do have hard water at the homestead so could that be the root cause? I've used both badger and boar hair brushes, I've bloomed it and even tried to work the brush up in a scuttle to no avail. The stuff just doesn't lather up much. Suggestions?
