Hello, my name is Thomas and I just joined. I have read many, many threads, but it is nice to be "official."
A little about me: I had to start by diving in the deep end of the pool...buying multiple soaps, razors, mugs, etc. (I'm sorting out likes/dislikes, so I actually may want to sell off some extras...hit me up if you like). I have a nice, thick red beard that I like to keep very short and neat, which SR shaving has been excellent for. I am so far partial to the old-style English brands of Truefitt and Hill and Taylor of Old Bond street for preshave oils, soaps, and aftershave balms/lotions. I am branching out into razorock italian soaps and mama bear soaps as well. I enjoy the great aromas and I like to switch it up from fresh scents to musky. I am always in search of great smelling strong scents.
My razors are a thiers-issard, dovo, two vintage wostenholm pipe razors, and a vintage wade and butcher...but I am looking into getting a brand new TI or dovo as well.
I strop with a Fromm and I prefer scuttles and apothecary style mugs (I have several Edwin Jagger pieces, including an EJ badger brush, bowl, mug, stand, mach 3 razor, etc.).
I am looking for advice on a preferred shave routine and/or awesome shave soaps. Also, what value do you place on using an alum block and strop paste regularly? Any advice is appreciated. Thank you!
